GRADING

Grading is based on the following:
  • Participation: performing tasks, answering questions
  • Following instructions
  • Being considerate of all in the classroom
  • How much effort you put into your assignments: be creative and stick with it!
  • Being able to save to flash drive

Today you will write a few facts about yourself. Then we'll mix them up and read one paper at a time. The class will try to figure out who it is.

First, print your first and last name at the top of the paper.
Write clearly so I can read it easily.

Examples of what you can write:
  • Favorite subject
  • Pets you have
  • Favorite color
  • Something you are good at like sports or singing or dancing
  • Something special that happened to you recently
  • The name of your best friend
  • Sisters and brothers

Keep It Short!

Learning Target
I can read long sentences and turn them into short phrases.

We are bombarded with things to read... textbooks, emails, text messages, and more.

For many of the products you will design as a graphic designer, you need to cut down on the wording (text). You don't always need to use full sentences like you do in a report for school.

Examples of products where you don't need full sentences are:
  • Posters
  • Postcards
  • Newspaper headlines
  • Magazine headlines
  • Captions
  • Business cards
  • Advertisements

Here are some examples of full sentences and how they can be shortened:

The party will start at 3:00 in the afternoon and will end at 7:00 at night. We will have games and stuff to eat like pizza and hamburgers and we'll have soda. And we'll have prizes for the games!
